ABOUT US

Sharon Welfare Society

Is a registered NGO in Andhra Pradesh (Regd No. 374/02), with several projects in the areas of education, child protection, women's empowerment, and advocacy for the rights of children, especially the marginalised and those from the streets and orphans in Andhra Pradesh. As part of our work, we run a Special Training Center (STC), a primary school for the child labourers in our town, and outreach programs. Here we focus on adult literacy (especially for women) and remedial coaching for dropouts and delinquent children. Our outreach is also designed to empower women in areas such as reproductive health, family planning, the dangers of child marriage, and the rights of the girl child. We work with families in slums and underprivileged communities in neighbouring villages to create awareness and bring about change in the lives of the families. Our work also includes vocational training for youth and women in these communities to enable them to gain financial stability and, through that, empower them.We primarily work with street and slum children and abandoned kids. After the government granted us permission under the National Child Labor Project, we started to run a school. The school focuses on providing primary education. We started sending children to secondary schools after their primary education. Considering the economic situation of these children, Sharon employs an integrated development approach for the child, family, and community.Sharon Welfare Society mainly gets its funding from individual donors, sponsors, and local philanthropists.Vision of the NGO A childhood for children who have never had one The vision of the children’s home is that every child will grow into a healthy, educated, and proud citizen of the nation. Our Slogan Each child matters.
